What exactly does Moira do?
Moira holds a message you create — text, voice, or video — and delivers it to the people you choose only if you don't check in within a window you set. Check in, and nothing is sent. It's a safety net for the words that matter.
Is this about death? That feels heavy.
It's about the opposite: living without the nagging thought of things left unsaid. Most Moira messages are cancelled with a happy tap after a flight lands or a shift ends. It's peace of mind for the 99.9% of days that go exactly as planned.
What happens if I forget to check in?
You won't be blindsided. Moira sends you warnings before any delivery — by app notification, email, and SMS — with plenty of time to check in or extend the window. Delivery only happens after the warnings go unanswered.
Can I cancel a message after I've set it up?
Anytime, from any device, with one tap. You can also edit the message, change recipients, extend the window, or delete everything permanently.
Can I send a message immediately instead of waiting?
Yes. Every message can be delivered instantly whenever you choose — some words shouldn't wait for a missed check-in.
How are my messages stored? Can Moira employees read them?
You choose per message: standard storage, verification-only (we store a one-way hash and can only confirm a value, never read it), or encrypted storage that requires a code you set — meaning even we can't read it. No one at Moira reads your messages.
How do recipients get my message?
By email, text message, or both — you choose per recipient. Recipients don't need a Moira account and don't pay anything.
Do my recipients know a message exists before it's delivered?
No. Unless and until a message is delivered, recipients know nothing. A cancelled message leaves no trace.
What does it cost?
Essential is $4/month (or $40/year) and Complete is $8/month (or $80/year) with video messages, more storage, and recurring check-ins. Both start with a 7-day free trial. There's no free tier — you're the customer, never the product.
What happens to my messages if I stop paying?
Scheduled events stop first — nothing is ever delivered because of a billing lapse. Your messages are retained for a grace period so you can export or reactivate, then permanently deleted.
What platforms does Moira run on?
Web, iOS, and Android, with the same experience everywhere. Checking in takes one tap from whichever screen is closest.
Is Moira a legal will or estate planning tool?
No. Moira delivers personal messages; it doesn't replace a will, power of attorney, or other legal instruments. Think of it as the human layer those documents can't carry.
